Sutter Health gets grant for training
Sutter Health has received a $3.6 million grant to further its work on clinical quality and training, the health care system announced recently.
The grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation will help fund an $11 million project to expand patient safety programs. The hospital system is contributing an additional $7.2 million to the program, hospital officials said.
It is the third time the foundation has awarded a grant to the Sacramento-based health care giant, bringing the total to nearly $12 million for various patient safety programs.
The latest grant, awarded as part of the foundation’s nursing initiative, will partly focus on training to help nurses spot early signs of infections that could lead to organ failures and possibly death. It will also be used to reduce the number of patients who succumb to dangerous fluctuations in blood-sugar levels.
