Conference will discuss issues related to old age
People who care for elderly or disabled loved ones can hear a discussion of related issues at a free conference this week in Sacramento.
The conference, "Healthy Aging: A Guide to Helping You Plan Your Journey," will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Radisson Hotel, 500 Leisure Lane.
Featured speakers will include Dr. Cheryl Phillips, president of the American Geriatrics Society, who will discuss aging and health; and Frances Kakugawa, a nationally recognized poet, who will read selections and autograph copies of her book, "Mosaic Moon."
The event is funded by the state Department of Mental Health, Area 4 Agency on Aging and the National Family Caregiver Support Program.
